CVRR trade for 3/1 – 3/7/2016

Posted By on Mar 7, 2016 | 0 comments

We sold one of our oil longs today that we were swinging on the hunch that oil may have topped short-term for the time being after a huge squeeze rally the past couple weeks. We started buying $CVRR (CVR Refining stock) on March 1st near the dead lows. We'll look to get back in on dips. Net +$9,022 in less than a...

CSTM trade for 2/24 – 3/3/2016

Swing trading is effective in stocks that are currently way undervalued and overvalued compared to their peers. Usually in a short amount of time, the price values correct and go in-line with the sector. $CSTM (Constellium stock) was not moving upwards with the rise in aluminum stocks like $AA and $CENX. This is our 3rd long swing of Endo Pharmaceuticals ($ENDP stock) in 4 months. Our buying thesis is just the same as the previous times: it's an undervalued biotech stock and a great takeover target making a long swing in the name ideal. If the...

$CVRR (CVR Refining stock) was beaten down on earnings Thursday Feb 25th as they missed analyst estimates by a mile. Continued weakness followed in the stock on Friday and once the tape signaled to us that it was near bottom (when we started seeing some bids and buying support in the stock with little resistance on upward moves), we started scooping up cheap shares of the refiner at new 52 week lows. $CVRR went down around -50% in the...

TTPH trade for 1/12 – 2/22/2016

Posted By on Feb 22, 2016 | 0 comments

Stocks trading below net cash value are definitely targets for swing trades. Give it some time and those stock will eventually trade back to where they should be. $TTPH (Tetraphase Pharma stock) started trading below net cash value minus debt when it hit $6 in mid-January and it went as low as $4.05. We bought shares and traded around a core position in and out for around 6 weeks. $TTPH at one time had a negative Enterprise Value of...
